When did I become a Christian?

Many of us look back to a moment of decision. For others it has been a more gradual realization. In our individualistic culture we usually identify such moments as times when we make our decision. Yet there is more to being a Christian than our own decisions. There is the action of God who sent his Son to die on the cross for us. For God, it is at the death of Jesus that we become his children. Then there is the corporate action of the church. Commanded by Jesus to baptise, this action of the church is described by Paul as the moment we are identified with Christ's death and enter a new life. So it's not just about us and our decisions; it's about God and his church as well.
