We've just had a wonderful weekend at church camp, learning all about how we can be 'making a difference'. Nearly 70 of us spent the weekend (19-21 September) at Camp KCC in Karakariki, just out of Hamilton. Some of our highlights were:
- Being all in together - we were sleeping in cabins, which meant that barriers were broken down and stronger relationships were built;
- the whole church family was there - children, youth and adults all together - so we got to know people in congregation better;
- learning things about people that we didn't know before, learning about what they're going through;
- having the chance to think about, dream about and discuss how to make a difference in different areas of life (family, work, community, church);
- a good mix of presentations - Max's teaching, sharing in discussion groups, and our guest speaker (Howard Webb);
- getting a break! Delicious meals cooked for you, time away from the busyness, being out in the country... and in the sunshine!
On Friday 11 July, a group of 45 people of all ages from St Margaret's headed off to the AMF Panmure Superbowl for a great evening of family fun playing Ten Pin Bowling. Although this was a non-competitive event, we soon discovered who'd spent a lot of time practising as four of the men reached high scores in the 100s. Our Vicar, Max Scott, achieved a strike with his last bowl. Famished bowlers filled up at Burger King after the game. A big thank you to the organisers!
The lounge was decorated with balloons and party lights, the food was delicious and it was a most enjoyable evening. Twelve of us sat down to dinner and we appreciated having Don & Eleanor join us. We look forward to next week!
